STR2-D13 Thermal relay is the use of current through the heat generated by the thermal element, so that there are different coefficients of expansion of the bimetallic sheet deformation, when the deformation reaches a certain distance, to promote the action of the connecting rod, so as to make the control circuit is disconnected, to achieve the overload protection of the motor. As an overload protection element of motor, STR2-D13 Thermal relay has the advantages of small size, simple structure and low cost.

STR2-D13 Thermal relay mainly consists of heating element, bimetal, contacts and a set of transmission and adjustment mechanism. Among them, the heating element is a piece of resistance wire with small resistance value, which is connected in series in the main circuit of the motor to be protected; the bimetal sheet is made of two kinds of metal sheets with different coefficients of thermal expansion rolled over and pressed together, and when the electric current passes through the heating element, the bimetal sheet will be bent because of the heat.
The main technical parameters of STR2-D13 Thermal relay include rated voltage, rated current, rated frequency and rectification current range. Among them, the rated voltage refers to the highest voltage value that the STR2-D13 Thermal relay can work normally, generally 220V, 380V, 600V, etc.; the rated current refers to the current through the STR2-D13 Thermal relay; the rated frequency is generally designed in accordance with the 45-62HZ; the range of the rated current describes the relationship between the action time of the STR2-D13 Thermal relay and the square of the current inversely proportional under the condition of a certain current.
The operating characteristics of a STR2-D13 Thermal relay depend mainly on its internal bimetal and heating element. When the motor is overloaded, the current in the winding increases, and the current through the STR2-D13 Thermal relay element also increases, causing the bimetal to rise to a higher temperature and bend to a greater extent, thus pushing the connecting rod into action and disconnecting the control circuit. After the STR2-D13 Thermal relay has been actuated, the bimetal requires a period of cooling before it can be reset.
STR2-D13 Thermal relays are mainly used to protect electric motors against faults such as overloads, phase breaks and unbalanced three-phase power supplies. In motor circuits, STR2-D13 Thermal relays are most effective when used in conjunction with circuit breakers with short-circuit protection. In addition, STR2-D13 Thermal relays can also be used for overload protection of other electrical equipment or electrical circuits.
When selecting STR2-D13 Thermal relays, comprehensive consideration should be made according to the rated current of the motor, working environment, starting current, nature of the load and other factors. The STR2-D13 Thermal relay should be installed in a dry, ventilated, non-corrosive gas environment, and ensure that its wiring is correct and firm.
In the course of use, the working status of the STR2-D13 Thermal relay should be checked regularly to ensure its normal operation and safety. If the motor overload is faulty, in order to avoid starting the motor again easily, the STR2-D13 Thermal relay should be reset manually.
